Interview with Steve in Frantik Magazine
Rivethead
Intense electronic laced metal from Dallas, Texas.
By:
Gian Erguiza
Gian: Who is Rivethead and where are you guys originally from?
Steve: RIVETHEAD is:
Steve Page – vocals, guitars, keys – originally from Stotfold, England
Kevin Kerr – guitars, vocals – originally from Amarillo, TX
Derek James – bass, vocals – originally from Dallas, TX
Mark Halford – drums – originally from Amarillo, TX
Gian: What best describes the music that you guys play and how did you guys get started?
Steve: RIVETHEAD is a hybrid and summation of all of our influences
which range from hard rock, metal, industrial, techno and even some
pop.
We're huge fans of Static-X, Rammstein, NIN, Disturbed,
Ozzy, Metallica, Korn and so on. We understand what it takes to write a
good song that will get people to sing along, while still maintaining
the intensity that goes with metal. We're the band that you'll dig and
your girlfriend might even dig more than you. That really happens a lot
at shows, actually. We actually all used to work for a video company
together. We were in two different bands at that time, Derek and I in a
band called SKWEEG and Kevin and Mark in Excessive Force. We
appreciated each other's talents, but didn't end up jamming together
for another 10 years. As far as that small video company is concerned,
we're the super group that came out of it!
Gian: If there was
any artist or band that you guys would like to share the stage with one
day, who would you guys choose and why?
Steve: We'd love to
open for a live show like Rammstein or NIN. Their live shows are always
a spectacle and the word intense does them no justice. In our own way,
we try to put a production together for our live shows which consist of
robotic lights, lasers, strobes, black lights fog machines and even
bubbles from time to time (thanks to our merch girls). We'd love to be
able to showcase what we have to offer for an arena or stadium crowd.
Gian: What is the message that your band is trying to convey or what are you guys trying to accomplish?
Steve:
As with most song writers, every song has its own message. We cover a
broad spectrum. We're heavy, we're loud, we'll get you shaking your ass
(girls), but we're not trying to be political and change the world.
We're just trying to make it more fun. Every RIVETHEAD show is a party.
We're already getting international attention, have sold CDs in all but
5 states, we're on XM Squizz48 daily, on the nationally syndicated Lex
and Terry Morning Radio show and we're getting played by pro sports
teams (Dallas Stars, OKC Blazers) and more. Our goal is to get the
right people into our organization to enable us to tour the world and
make more fans! We've got 4 albums available on Itunes and CDBaby and
they're moving quick, so hopefully it's a sign of things to come!
Gian: Any additional comments or shout-outs?
Steve:
Always! Definitely shout outs to the guys in Madlife, The Razor Blade
Dolls, Somsara, Red Pyramid, WAJA, Hell Society, Bodhi-Grant-Atticus on
Squizz XM48, Lex and Terry in Dallas, to Dunlop, Vitamin Energy, Dean
Markley, House of Pain!!! Check out our mess of videos on Youtube and
Myspace. www.myspace.com/RIVETHEAD If you like your rock heavy and your
metal with a good beat and understandable vocals, we're your band! Oh
yeah, and strippers feel free to ask for a copy of our cover of "Sexy
Back". It's already blowing up on national radio and strip clubs across
the South!
